It must be a rather common occurrence since so many of the residents are not surprised by it.

So it seems. This is only the second time I have experienced this event.

This is my first.

I wonder-- what the ramifications are for my being here rather than where I belong..

It all depends on what you choose to do during your stay. As for how it affects your home, I cannot say.

[The response didn't please him, although he wasn't sure what he'd expected the other man to say. Being here, unable to look out for Yuuki, was silently grating on his nerves. He did try to mask his concerns but the distant look in his eyes never faded.]

Ahem, no. The change takes three days to fully take effect, and the vampire who turned me had since turned to ash.

[Picking up on Vincente's confusion] The level a vampire reaches when they find they can no longer control their lust for blood. Had no one explained the tiers to you before?

Then you either have a strong resolve, or you ran across another pureblood and partook of theirs... [Narrows his eyes]

I see. We have those in Tamriel, only they are simply refered to as feral vampires. And no, I know not of these tiers.

I had to have a strong resolve to keep my sanity after I was turned. My first feeding was a hapless Dunmer who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

If you're interested in the other classifications we adhere to then I don't mind telling you about them.. not that the titles really matter. As with your feral vampires their behavior remains the same no matter what they're called.

How are you managing to sustain yourself here?

I do not mind learning of vampires of other worlds. It is amazing how some of them work so differently than my kind.

[Then you got the kind that are oh-so-prevelant in modern literature he's been reading of lately, but those are neither here nor there.]

I sneak into houses and feed on the residents in their sleep. They don't feel a thing and awaken the next day as if nothing happened.

Neither do I. I would be interested to learn any of the differences between the different lands. [Now for those tiers] The tiers are much like a pyramid. Purebloods, or Level A, being at the very top. They possess the most influence over the other levels and are the only ones that can turn others into vampires. The next tier, Level B, contains the nobles or aristocrats. C, are the common vampires. Level D is reserved for those who have been turned from humans. While they remain in control of themselves they remain in this category, without drinking the blood of their masters- the one who turned them, they are always subject to the possibility of dropping to Level E. The fall can be delayed if they are able to drink from another powerful vampire. Once they become level E-- it's the responsibility of the upper classes to eliminate them.

[The modern literature certainly would be a bit bizarre]

[Although he doesn't say it openly, Kaname finds that practice distasteful. He supposes there is no alternative while trapped in this place.] A pity there's no source for blood tablets here... [And at least the victims aren't destroyed]

A vampire caste system? Most interesting. Nothing like that exists in my world. Back home, all vampires have the power to turn others and vampire variety depends on the province.

I have heard of other feeding methods here, but old habits die hard, I suppose.

That's one way of looking at it, however it is based on inherent power and lineage. It's a system that was more predetermined by nature than by individuals. [Not saying it's the best system but it's hard for lower vampires to argue with vampires that can simply control them by thought. Takes pause at the idea that all vampires could change humans..] That would be far more difficult to police. What sort of vampires are in the various provinces?

Such as?

Most vampires are more or less the same, save for a few differences depending on the region. Vampires of Daggerfall may not enter holy places, for example. Morrowind has three different clans of vampires that specialize in magic, stealth, and strength. I myself am a vampire of Cyrodiil. This means I have certain powers.

I have heard of taverns that serve blood, and some places even give bags of blood.

[He listens quietly as Vicente explains.] Each vampire-- if they're at least a noble has some sort of ability in my world. What kinds of powers do you possess? [Doesn't really expect any cautious vampire to come right out an answer that, but he inquired anyway]

if there's such an infrastructure for it-- you must not be the only one. [And in fact-- he knows you're not] What can you tell me about the other vampires in the City?

That is for me to know. I will tell you that I have the power to see in the dark and see life force, though. [It's a minor power at best, small compared to the major ones.]

I have yet to socialize with the other vampires here. I do know of a few, and they seem quite similar to my kind.

[Smiles faintly at the response. It had been too direct] Yes, of course. It had been rather forward of me.

A pity. There was one in particular i would have been interested to know more about. Especially his usual whereabouts, and his activities.

Mm. [Sensed Rido's presence when he arrived and that's who he's been avoiding. He'd already learned what he needed to know. This vampire before him was not one that needed to be eliminated and there was no information Vicente could provide about Rido.]

He'll use anyone he can to become more powerful. Be leery of him.

[Too bad ratting out members, even potential ones, is agains the Tenets.]
